Pictures from my Classroom #67

Reina Marquina, today an 8th grader at my school,
self-initiated and directed the amazing collection of "IDIOMS"
or Idiomatic Expressions shown in the pictures.
Reina, her Mother and Brother are proud of her work:

As a 7th grader in my English/Creative Expression classes last year, Reina
purchased a 650 collection of IDIOMS during the book fair held at our school
library.   Exhibiting incredible leadership skills, Reina organized all
students in my class to copy the 650 Idiomatic Expressions, numbered, onto
sentence strips.   Then, she obtain the assistance of Mrs. Pérez, one of our
teaching assistant, to laminate ALL 650 IDIOM strips.   Today, as we study
IDIOMS in my classes, we use Reina's contribution to our classes, school and
to learning.

It is important to provide many, many choices for students to further their
knowledge concerning topics that interest them, provided, of course, these
are legal and decent topics!!!!   As we read stories or selections, I
emphasize many of the topics within the selection that could lead to further
readings, either through library choices or through the Internet.

Reina chose a never-ending topic, and was able to get an entire class
interested in her project!!!!!   What you see is the result of
self-initiative, self-motivation and truly outstanding leadership skills.
THANK YOU, Reina!!!!!!!!!
